DANA POINT ON-LINE SALUTES THE VETERANS! Dana Point-- After one of the worst wars of all time, the diplomats came together to sign an Armistice ending World War I, at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. This was to signify how close the war came to completely decimating human civilization. After World War II, Armistice Day was re-named Veterans Day, in honor of all the veterans from all the wars who made valiant sacrifices for the benefit of their homeland. We who are alive today owe those veterans, and it is on Veterans Day that we are able to show them the honor they deserve, even though in many ways, there really is no way to fully compensate them for their sacrifices. There is one way, however, and that is for the people of Dana Point to create a Veterans' Memorial to those who perished in war, in the Dana Point Harbor. The Harbor is undergoing re-evaluation for modernization, and the time to stand up for American veterans is here, and now. This isn't about politics. This is about our own integrity. This is about honoring our fallen fathers, brothers and sons, mothers, daughters and sisters, who cannot be here with us today, because they sacrificed their lives for our country. The politicians working on the Harbor improvement project, however, only listen when they are compelled to listen by public response. Please, support the project to locate a memorial to the War Dead in the Harbor now, before it is too late, and this opportunity slips by. The politicians need to hear from you. Please do your part to honor those who cannot be here with us today. Please write and email the County Board of Supervisors, and tell them that you support the Dana Point Harbor Memorial to the War Dead. It's the least we can do for our fallen heroes. They would have done it for us...
